MOTION STATES VIDEO INSTALLATION
MOTION STATES — 15-Minute Video Artwork | Jakarta 2018 | Sven Pfrommer | Berlin Exhibition 2025
MOTION STATES is a 15-minute video artwork filmed in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2018, and presented as a video screening as part of my MOTION STATES exhibition at Creative Game Gallery, Berlin in 2025.
Filmed within Java Jazz Festival Jakarta, the work observes movement, people, light, blur and fleeting moments. Rather than following a conventional narrative, the video focuses on the visual rhythm of the scene and venue and the constantly changing relationship between human presence and space.
The camera becomes an observing presence, capturing fragments of movement and transforming visitors into an atmospheric and abstract visual experience. Blurring, repetition, rhythm and shifting perspectives connect the moving image with my broader photographic practice.
MOTION STATES reflects my ongoing interest in movement, perception, memory and the transformation of photographic imagery into a more immersive visual experience.
